What to Expect at Leavenworth
Weekends are busier than weekdays any time of the year because Leavenworth is very popular in Seattle and Spokane. There is still plenty of space for exploration and bratwurst, even with the weekend crowds.
Tip: If you are traveling through Georgia, Helen is similar to other towns and is even located on a mountain stream.
Leavenworth, Washington
Leavenworth is on the east side Cascade Mountains. Highway 2 runs through the town. You can reach it in 2 hours and 20 minutes via I-90 or Highway 97 or via I-5/Highway 2. You can always choose the Highway 2 route in winter due to snow on Blewett Pass (highway97). But it’s excellent and beautiful in summer. Continue east on Highway 2 until you reach the next leg of Highway 97. Lake Chelan is another popular family getaway.
The Icicle Train Station is where the Empire Builder Amtrak route from Chicago via Glacier National Park stops if you wish to take the train to Leavenworth. If it isn’t snowy, you should find a shuttle quite easily. Leavenworth Shuttle & Taxi offers inexpensive transportation to and from the station. Reservations are necessary if you plan to travel to the station. The train often arrives very early, so they will need to schedule your pick-up the night before.
What’s the weather like in Leavenworth
You’ve probably been rained if you’ve ever visited Seattle during the summer. You’ve probably been rained on more than once. What is the best thing about driving for two hours to Leavenworth? You travel from humid Western Washington to the beautiful, dry, hot Eastern Washington in just two hours. It will be 50 degrees in the city, and it will rain. Leavenworth will be 85 degrees. Wear shorts and sunglasses. It’s amazing.

There are many choices, both in town and outside. Camping is a favorite pastime of many people. They love to camp up Icicle Road or at Lake Wenatchee. There are many hotels in Leavenworth, WA. There are many options, including Bavarian chalets as well as more popular brands of travel.
Linderhof Inn Downtown Leavenworth
You’ll notice Bavarian-themed hotels and resorts as you drive through Leavenworth on Highway 2. The Linderhof Inn is just a little further from downtown. The Linderhof Inn, sister property to the well-known Enzian Inn next door, is quiet and straightforward. Although the rooms aren’t fancy, they are clean and comfortable. The hotel has a large balcony that runs the length of it. It is furnished with furniture to relax and take in the views. A heated outdoor pool is available at the Linderhof, especially in spring or fall.
The Linderhof Inn’s homemade breakfast is the real treat, which has one of the best breakfasts you will ever have.
The Best Things to Do in Leavenworth In Summer
Leavenworth is known for its fantastic weather and variety of terrains. We love to go camping and hiking in the summer, so we will most likely enjoy it in the summer. But we recently discovered that we could also visit Leavenworth in the middle of winter!
Wine tasting in Downtown Leavenworth
There are many tasting rooms around the town. But, once you cross the mountains, it’s clear that you’re in wine country. You can stop in Leavenworth for wine and cider, continue to Cashmere and Wenatchee for more wine tasting, and then go south to Yakima or Walla Walla to enjoy wine tasting. There are plenty of options for those who want to hang out in the town.
